The Computer-Aided Design - Architectural Drafting associate degree
AA program equips you with the knowledge and skills necessary to become
a candidate for many careers available to the skilled CAD operator. Students
in this program receive training on AutoCAD from the computer firm Autodesk,
the most popular CAD software in the architecture field today.
As an architectural drafting student, you will learn to use CAD in a
combined theory and lab environment, led by outstanding, industry experience
faculty. The curriculum is current, professional, and prepares students
completely for the modern architectural drafting and CAD related position.
What are the laboratories and equipment like that are used in the curriculum?
Most if not all CAD education programs have lecture classrooms, drafting
lab rooms with individual work areas, and a CAD lab with computers and
software for the courses.
An individual work station consists of a drafting table, stool, and a
mayline.
Usually CAD lab stations are equipped with a computer monitor, mouse and
keyboard. As mentioned previously, the AutoCAD software comes preinstalled
for use in the labs, as it is the defacto industry standard software.
